subsequently operated a free rehabilitation clinic in San Thome,
Chennai. In 1986, he established a College of Yoga Therapy at Athanoor, Tamil Nadu, where he would personally treat
patients and conduct classes. This later became a free Hospital of Holistic
Medicine and Yoga Therapy.
Treatment
Treatment is undertaken by qualified medical staff.
The hospital is unique in that for every case, a team of diverse health practitioners work together to treat the patient. Until his Mahasamadhi
in 2006, this
team was headed up by Yogi S.A.A Ramaiah
himself. It also included a
Western allopathic doctor,
physiotherapist, nutritionist, ayurvedic
practitioner etc.
The treatment typically includes diet, posture,
breathing, meditation and sun treatment.
Free treatment
The hospital is also unique in that it operates on a
donations only basis. Thus it
alleviates the suffering of the poor people who reside in the surrounding
countryside and towns.
